We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join our team and help us to continue to grow the company into the future. Based in our Naval Base office, this role is responsible for responding to invitations to tender by estimating and documenting the various costs applicable to the tender, and to collate all such documents into a form suitable for presentation to the prospective client.
 As a key member of our Estimating Department, you will be responsible for:
  • Reviewing tender documentation to determine scope and specific terms and conditions
  • Working to the quality management system procedures and work instructions
  • Preparing and coordinating subcontract components required for tender submissions
  • Obtaining highly competitive quotes for the provision of necessary materials and services
  • Undertaking accurate material take-offs
  • Accurately calculating man hour estimates
  • Calculating mobilisation & demobilisation costs
  • Determining plant and equipment required for specific projects
  • Assisting with construction scheduling and planning
  • Developing construction methodologies and identifying synergies and savings
  • Collating material take-offs and job costs into clear, well-structured spreadsheets
  • Partaking in tender reviews with senior management and adjusting costings as required
  • Preparing professional tender submission documents in line with client and Company requirements
  • Assisting in the calculation and production of work claims
  • Performing other general duties to suit operational requirements as directed
  • Maintaining company standards for Quality Assurance purposes
Ideally, you will possess the following past experience and qualifications:
  • A strong understanding and background in Fabrication and/or SMP Estimating.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience gained within a recognised fabrication business, preferably working in the construction, mining and resource industries.
  • A trade background with post trade diploma or similar would be well regarded, but not essential.
  • Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
