The Position
Overseeing a small sized team of Paint & Blasters on afternoon shift, the Paint & Blast Leading hand will provide technical support and leadership for paint and blast jobs that come into the Workshop. Reporting to the Manager Paint & Blast, the successful applicant will be required to:
- Be the workshop PASS champion and safety leader
- Lead the Paint & Blast team in the areas of quality control and productivity, and ensure that all works completed are in line with Emeco’s safety plan
- Effectively manage workshop personnel on the afternoon shift
- Contribute to skills development of apprentices and ensure effective knowledge and skills transfer to less experienced tradespeople
- Relevant nationally recognised trade qualification and/or leadership qualifications
- Extensive knowledge on all aspects of protective coatings and abrasive blasting
- Extensive knowledge and experience in Painting & Blasting earth moving equipment, as well as structural objects
- Strong attention to detail and experience in managing quality control
- Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on developing effective relationships and team building
