 Our Cooljarloo mine site is located near Cataby, about 1 ½ hours’ drive North of the CBD. The mine offers a range of lifestyle options including the opportunity to reside in coastal towns such as Lancelin or Jurien Bay, or alternatively employees can stay in our single person’s accommodation whilst rostered on. This position operates on a DIDO 5/2 4/3 basis. Reporting to the Group Leader Environment, this position is responsible for undertaking environmental monitoring, data storage and reporting requirements of the Cooljarloo Environmental Management Programme and contributing to the continuous improvement and maintenance of the Cooljarloo environmental management system.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Implementing environmental programs to ensure compliance by site personnel and contractors with environmental standards and licensing regulations.
  • Providing environmental services and advice to supervisors and management on the application of policy on site.
  • Carrying out environmental monitoring and recording of the data within our MonitorPro database.
  • Preparing and submitting statutory and management reports on environmental matters as required.
Preferred candidates will ideally have the following skills and experience:
  • Degree in Environmental Science, or other relevant environmental discipline.
  • Experience in surface and groundwater management, air quality (dust) monitoring and experience with associated data management and reporting will be highly regarded.
  • Previous experience with MonitorPro would be advantageous.
  • 5+ years of practical experience as an environmental scientist in a mining, construction or engineering environment preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with the natural ability to interact with people will be critical to the success of this role.
  • Proven leadership skills in a team environment and experience in coaching a trainee would be beneficial.
